Why did you choose to teach a workshop around twists?

Yoga students and teachers alike are often confused about the role of the hips, pelvis, spine and ribcage in twisting poses. Understanding the relationship between those parts of the skeleton can help you rotate more deeply and safely. The Feldenkrais Method fine-tunes your body awareness, helping you discover places in your body where you have developed sensory amnesia. By awakening those forgotten places, you will access more of yourself, improving your ability to twist.

Why should I care about improving twisting?

Twisting is an essential part of many everyday activities, including checking traffic while you’re driving, removing dishes from the dishwasher or just turning around when someone calls your name! Understanding your habits during turning can make these and many other activities easier and more elegant! Twisting is also important for maintaining the mobility of your spine and hips as well keeping your abdominal organs healthy.

I’ve never done yoga before, will this workshop be ok for me?

Yes. All the yoga poses will be taught with plenty of modifications to make them suitable for beginners. In fact, if you’re a Feldenkrais practitioner who’s wanted to try yoga, this workshop will be an excellent entry point.
