    The quality of your breathing impacts the quality of your life in a surprising number of ways. Helping us to develop a better awareness of the way air enters and exits our body, the Feldenkrais Method® can improve our physical comfort and sense of wellbeing in some immediate and dramatic ways.

    This soothing workshop with Senior Staff Practitioner Mark Hirschfield features Feldenkrais Awareness Through Movement® lessons (exercises) designed to enhance the function of your entire breathing apparatus.     Teacher: Mark Hirschfield

    imageMark Hirschfield, M.F.A., G.C.F.P., graduated from the Feldenkrais Professional Training Program with David Zemach-Bersin in 2003.  He is a full-time Faculty Practitioner at the Feldenkrais Institute and has taught the Feldenkrais Method throughout New York City.  Mark helped create the Alexander Yanai Project, a weekly series of Awareness Through Movement lessons drawn specifically from classes Dr. Feldenkrais taught for many years on Alexander Yanai Street in Tel-Aviv, Israel.

    Mark has helped clients with a myriad of issues, ranging from back and shoulder pain to eye strain and neurological problems.  He enjoys working with students who want to explore the possibilities inherent in the Feldenkrais Method for general self-improvement (physical, mental and psychological), heightened awareness and an improved sense of well-being. For many years Mark was a professional actor and theater director and is well versed in tailoring the Feldenkrais Method to the needs of performing artists.  He is a graduate of UCLA and Florida State University, is an expert rated skier and is enthusiastic about sharing his insights about how the Feldenkrais Method can be applied to improving everyone’s abilities.

    Cancellation Policy: For 3-hr evenings—credit toward a future event. For single and multi-day workshops—full refunds are available minus a $75 administrative fee, provided we receive your written notice at least 14 days before the starting day of the workshop. With less than 14 days notice, the Institute will credit your tuition, minus the administrative fee, towards a future workshop.

    Awareness Through Movement

    We offer over a dozen classes every week with excellent teachers. No prior experience is necessary; your second class is free. If you are new to the Feldenkrais Method or are experiencing physical discomfort, we suggest that you start with our Basics Class. If you are already familiar with the Feldenkrais Method, jump in anywhere; come to any of our ten weekly Open Classes.

    **Community classes are pay-what-you-can, with a suggested fee of $10.00.

    For your first class, please arrive at least 10 minutes prior to the scheduled class start time.
